One of my Facebook friends posted this morning that his Kindle had died, being a helpful sort of chap I decided to investigate how to reset the Kindle, so I grabbed mine and found that the battery was flat.
No issues, that has happened before, after the initial frenzy of reading on the device, it has sort of relaxed under the couch side table, doing very little except for being charged up every ten weeks or so.
This time it was different.
Lifeless.
I contacted Amazon and they stepped me through the same reset routine I had tried twice, then said they would call back in an hour after a charge (my light never came on) which they didn't, so I contacted them again and the new guy stepped me through the same reset routine once more.
Dead.
They are nicely providing a free replacement of a 4th Generation Kindle.
I look forward to not using that one.
