End of Summer

Weeks go by and sunken boats are still there, here from the walkway in front of Gramma's looking towards the bluffs.

The year is moving along and soon the day float will be moved from the Government Wharf area, boats will be stowed and wrapped and Gibsons will become a much quieter place for three months. It will be our duty to ensure alcohol is saved for the winter months and consumed in orderly fashion.

View from Marine Drive

The Navy were out doing some of that maneuvering thing around Howe Sound this morning.

Zigzagging around, probably out collecting their crab traps...

Marine Drive Construction

Down on the road into Gibsons Landing, the work has started once more in clearing all the old waterfront houses.

Wakefield, the established building company is hard at work creating houses for the wealthy.

Stalker

Yesterday at Reed Road we felt that we were being watched from the bushes...

More plants for Autumn

The leaves are falling and the weather is turning wet as usual, so it's planting season once again, a trip to Quality farms and the B&K resulted in some seasonal bargains.

They sit in the holding area awaiting their destination.

September Paddle

Another morning on the water and the weather appears to be changing, yet our Friday paddle was calm and relaxing as usual.

I took this photo from the “driver's seat” a trio of lovely young ladies who put up with the old bloke at the back on our trips around the sound.
Christie, Catherine and Karen

Hide and Seek

We thought only Ostriches did this....

Chucky

There are a half dozen new chickens down at Marina house on the waterfront, here one interested party is checking out the macro function on our camera.

Little Soldier

Today was a big mood swing for all of us, little Bill went in for surgery, tooth cleaning and two teeth out, brutal stuff and here he is tonight, rambling around with a shaved leg (looks like he has a fashionable boot on) and generally bumping into stuff. Still has quite the appetite though, eating us out of Ham and Home.....

Eighteenth year.

Manic Monday

It has been a hot few days, today we walked to the shops, had a lovely lunch at Wheatberries on the way back and then decided, as it was so hot, to dig like mad dervishes for half an hour and put gravel around the newly painted fire hydrant (the man came a week or so ago).

Woody

Today on an extended walk down Chamberlin, we happened upon a Pileated woodpecker hopping from hydro pole to hydro pole.

May, The Eagle Dog

Our next door neighbour has adopted a dog that was a local celebrity for a while a few months ago.

The dog was an abandoned female that was dropped from a great height, caught by a bald eagle for a tasty lunch, however, the feisty little dog was not intending to die that day and struggled free and landed in a retirement home near Sechelt.
Nursed back to health by the BCSPCA, a couple of operations, teeth extractions and some drug work, the dog is happy with it's new owner.

Sunked Two

It must be trendy at the moment, this one down near Cole's Marine Ways.

Sunked

Last week we sat at the pub and watched our local Coast Guard auxiliary bring this boat closer to the shore, today it is on it's side and feeling sorry for itself.

Crucil Townhouses

The townhouse project at the end of Crucil is advancing quite rapidly now. Strange that the houses will eventually be thirty-five foot tall and currently sit at around ten. Ah well, not exactly in our back yard and will not affect our view (We're taking the I'm all right jack approach).

Where is the beer?

I have the look of a man who knows he will soon be sat drinking a pint of Landing Lager.

Saturday Paddle

The Friday crew are still busy with the kid's summer holidays, so we took the two man out around the shores on Saturday, Here are a few pictures of what was an excellent little adventure, we made it as far as Granthams landing (which isn't really that far) but it was a lot of fun.
