The Cleaners

Every day now, we have what we call the "vacuum cleaners" strolling through our back yard, they erase any trace of wild bird seed from our various feeders.

Our cat, Ben alerted us to two intruders, here is one caught in the act.

Northern Flicker

As the weather warmed slightly in January, we lost the snow and four or more Northern Flickers started competing for food in the garden. Here a male partakes at one of our feeders, bright red cheeks, whereas the females had no such markings.

Varied Thrush

This is a varied Thrush, we had a pair of them, male and female, feeding in the back yard after quite a snowfall. In the following weeks we had about seven or eight of them, running around the yard, flipping leaves to find insects and partaking of our bird feeders.
