Today on Howe Sound we had swells coming in through the gap between Keats and the Bluffs that were probably in the order of six feet peak to trough and about a twelve foot pitch. I was steering and at the stern of the canoe it seemed at times I was about eight feet above my stroke person, looking down, the trip over to Keats usually takes about 25 minutes but because of the waves we surfed over there in about 15 minutes.
The disconcerting thing about that was the day was getting longer and the winds were actually picking up, so after plodding around Plumper Cove for a rest, we all knew we had to face the onslaught on the way back.
Which took quite a bit longer than 15 minutes....
