The blue heron had arrived as we were dusting off the front bed, two years old now and things have changed in that short lifespan.
There are 22 months between the two images and some of our original plants have grown a lot bigger in that short time.
The Japanese maple was uprooted one night, probably by a deer or a bear and is currently recuperating in a pot at the side of the house, replaced by "Rustle" our vibernum.
