The hard work paid off as we hid in our cardboard box and surprised a pair of Kiwi birds over morning coffee, the female, as usual, expressing a cute shyness at the first sign of a camera, or in this case, the second sign of a camera.
A Skype session across the world to New Zealand, such amazing yet simple technology.

Snow Day
Looking out of the window it is turning into a winter wonderland out there, it is odd that two days ago we were out paddling on Howe Sound in a four man outrigger with the team, today however, it is another story.
Tonight, pasta and wine or beer, or, as we jokingly say "Italian Bistro Night" as we batten down the hatches and hibernate away from the elements.

A nice little Tug.
Two weeks into January and the weather today reminded us of spring.
There is hope!
Plain Jane II down at the Government Wharf, a tiny little tugboat, big enough for an operator, a cheese sandwich, a transistor radio and a thermos.

Porkus Pinikus
A walk up North Road for an extended journey to the Blackfish Pub on Sunday (our first this year) produced this kerbside find, a quill from a porcupine, a nocturnal resident of British Columbia, this may be the closest that a photo of this mammal will come to gracing this blog.
The penny was probably found last year outside of the Blackfish Pub, the penny being an endangered species here in Canada.
