Harbour Life

The walk down to the Marina yesterday was rewarded by the return of a few river otters at the breakwater and an appearance by the usual suspects, a couple of harbour seals that have been quite elusive in the last few months.

Why we need Rain

Without rain, there can be no beer to console the pair of us after a walk down Reed Road to the Blackfish.

Let go of my Lego

In the last few years, people have found our little piece of land on Port Mellon Highway and some go up there and have a beer, which is ok by me, yet some have a habit of driving up out of sight and using the place as a dumping ground, so, we built a small rock wall in the hope that it would stop the habit.

It was promptly dismantled.

Hopefully the new fix to the problem are these two 2500 pound concrete Lego bricks, unfortunately, they have been installed and Karen was trapped behind them so I've had to leave her there for the last few weeks.

Solutions on a post card please...

Coyote

I searched the web for a picture of the animal we had in the yard, as you can see, they look very fox like, however, our example was almost the size of an adult alsation dog.

No roadrunner spotted yet...

Daily Routine

Almosy a daily ritual, the deer come and finish off the food we leave for the birds, the day before this was taken we had a coyote in the front and then the back yard, unfortunately, not enough light for a good photo. I'll dig out a representative photo from the web.

November, a break in the rain.

It rained almost every day in November, but we had a few good days, a chance to have our roof fixed and have an extended walk, here is a view of the North Shore mountains from Mariners Lookout, Spyglass place.

Canadian Geese

The Canadian Geese are hanging around down at the front, near the library, in addition we have a large flock of them up by the school, including what appears to be an albino or white goose, just one white one in a flock of about one hundred.

Here are two tucking into some grass and mooning me.

November Rain

It is normal to have a rainy month here on the West coast, or as the locals call it, the WET coast. November was a very good example and apparently, whoever it is who checks these things recorded 806 millimetres of rain.

Thats about 2.7 feet of rain.

It was no coincidence that our own personal mud hut here in the rain forest was leaking, the man told us two years ago that the shingles needed replacing, and it wasn't until the good wife was running around at two in the morning with buckets that it seemed to be a good idea to finally have it done.

In the interim, during the first week or so of November, we had a big tarp on the roof, something that is quite common amongst us locals.
